Professor Nicodemus Abungu Odero has been a member of the teaching staff at the Electrical and Electronics Engineering Department, Machakos University, since March 2018. He has previously been a lecturer at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (1994 – 2009) and The University of Nairobi (2009 – 2018). He has published 28 papers in peer-reviewed international journals and 22 papers in conference proceedings, and successfully supervised 3 PhD and 13 MSc students.

His research interests are electrical power systems optimization and renewable energy systems. He is a registered Consulting Engineer and a Certified Electrician (Class A), with over 21 years engineering practice. Notable projects are Upgrade of the Electrical Services Infrastructure of 6 TVET Institutions in Liberia as an International Consultant for the United Nations Industrial Development Organization(UNIDO), Design of the Master Plans of the Electrical Services Infrastructure for the Industrial and Commercial Development Corporation’s (ICDC) Industrial and Commercial Business Park in Eldoret (on a 1km by 1km piece of land piece of land in Uasin Gishu County), and the Proposed Koitalel Arap Samoei University (on a 1km by 700m piece of land in Nandi County).  He is a member of both the Institute of Engineers of Kenya (IEK) and the Engineers Board of Kenya (EBK).
