Freedom@250 Exhibition

The U.S. Embassy, in partnership with Machakos University, celebrated Freedom@250 on Saturday, 6th June 2026. As part of the event program, the School of Engineering, led by Eng. (Dr) Charles Mwaniki, the COD CIT department Dr. Omuya, and the Luban Workshop were requested to present selected student innovations.

During the celebration, the university showcased five student-led projects to the distinguished guests and university management. These innovations demonstrated creativity and practical problem-solving skills from the students. The projects presented included Soudom, AgroVision Smart Greenhouse, Smart Walking Stick for the Blind, Automatic Urinal Flushing (Piezo-based system), and a Smart Hybrid Backup System for Indoor Use.

The exhibition highlighted the impact of hands-on learning and student innovation in addressing real-world challenges, reinforcing Machakos University’s commitment to applied engineering and technological development through the Luban Workshop and related programs.
